Issue 005 – The Tech & Gadgets Edition

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with technology. I grew up—like most millennials—half of my childhood without internet and the other half discovering dial-up. The screech of the modem, the shared family computer, and the frustration of someone picking up the phone mid-download are burned into my memory. Nights spent burning CDs for the Discman felt like hacking the system. I’ve always loved gadgets: first the iPod, then the iPhone, which I proudly carried around before anyone even knew what it was. I used it to cheat through physics exams while everyone else was still on paper. Then came BlackBerrys, BBM, and the return to Apple—3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, and on. I’ve owned nearly every iPhone ever made.

When DJI released their first drones, I was hooked immediately. I’ve always used tech to document life—family vacations, creative projects, and now content creation. From GoPros to pocket cameras to VR headsets, I’ve always been drawn to tools that capture or expand perspective. Technology, for me, has always been less about the specs and more about what it allows us to see, build, and remember.

I’ve also been a gamer my whole life. My first console was the NES, hours spent running on that ridiculous Power Pad mat and playing Duck Hunt until the plastic gun wore out. Then came the Super NES, the N64 with Super Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time—each generation another step forward in what felt like magic. I’ve gone through every PlayStation, every Xbox, every Nintendo since. Now my daughters play Mario Kart on the Switch, discovering the same joy I had as a kid, only in higher definition. So this series will also cover gaming—the hardware, the nostalgia, and how these consoles shaped the way we connect with technology.

Now, as AI reshapes everything—from photography to productivity—the world of tech and gadgets is entering a new era. This series will explore that evolution: from the nostalgic hardware that shaped us to the innovations transforming how we live today. Some posts will be retro, some futuristic, but all driven by curiosity. If you’re as obsessed with tech as I am, welcome—you’re in the right place.
