Issue 009 - The Honeymoon Route

Our honeymoon was the beginning of it all. We left Guadalajara, where we got married, and set out on a journey that would take us halfway around the world. The destination: Africa — a continent we thought we might never visit again, or at least not easily now that we have kids. The fastest way to get there was through New York City, so that’s where our adventure began.

From New York,

we flew to Johannesburg,

the main hub of Africa, but instead of using it as a stop between every destination, we designed a route that would let us explore more of the continent without looping back each time.

Our first stop was Livingstone,

home to Victoria Falls — the largest waterfall in the world. From there, we continued south to Cape Town,

one of the most beautiful cities on the continent, where we took a detour to Stellenbosch,

South Africa’s wine country — a place of endless vineyards, art, and golden light — before heading into the wild at Lion Sands,

for our safari at Kruger National Park.

After the adventure of the savannah, we moved on to Mauritius,

then to the Seychelles

— both islands that felt like something out of a dream.

On our way back, we had a short stop in Dubai (or better said, at the Dubai airport — visa issues kept us from going out), and decided to use those extra days in Paris instead, our last destination before returning home.

We ended our trip in Monterrey, ready to start our new life together, carrying with us memories from a once-in-a-lifetime journey that spanned oceans, continents, and countless moments we’ll never forget.
